About Me

As a counselor with 15 years of experience in diverse mental health settings, I recognize how difficult it can be to ask for help.  Although mental health support has become more accepted, there are still stigmas that plague our society. These stigmas and barriers are part of what led me to my counseling career. I graduated with my BA in Psychology from Wilmington College of Ohio in 2006. Then I moved to Chicago, where I began working with children in a residential facility. After gaining a couple of years of work experience, I knew it was time to pursue further education. I obtained my master’s degree at DePaul University, where I graduated in 2012. I worked in two behavioral health hospitals for ten years, where I gained experience with mental health issues such as eating disorders, self-injury, suicidal ideations and attempts, depression, anxiety, and anger. During this time, I also worked as a school counselor in Illinois high schools with underserved populations.

In 2018, I began working in private practice, where I worked with children and adolescents (11-17) and adults. I transitioned to telemental health counseling in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic shut down in-person counseling. During this time, I completed my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Practice from Georgia State University. My diverse background has allowed me to work with many different types of people who are struggling in different areas of their lives. I believe that counseling is a safe way for one to express themselves openly and honestly while collaborating with a professional to help them along the way.
